Free video editing software for a6000?
Apr 29, 2017
I need to make a short video for my church. Not looking to do anything fancy would need to put a bunch of short clips into one video. The ability to write some text as an overlay would be great.
I am using the a6000. And run windows. Is there anything free that is decent?
Also what codec do you guys recommend?

I'm not a Windows guy but I think Movie Maker is free.
Sony's PlayMemories home might offer something as well, though I've never used it.

Davinci resolve is free and AWESOME, but the learning curve is HUGE.

Imagine there's a bunch of basic editing apps that will work ok for limited needs.
On the Mac, there's always iMovie (along with Davinci Resolve and others).
However, for those viewing this thread in later months, Avid just announced that they will be releasing a FREE version Media Composer later in 2017! (it'll no doubt have some limitations, but it's by far one of the most dominant editing apps in the industry)
